On the beach

Please note South Sands beach is only dog-friendly from October until May. During the other months, restrictions apply.

For the Summer months, take a trip to neighbouring North Sands that welcomes dogs all year round. Other dog-friendly beaches in the area include East Portlemouth beaches on the other side of the estuary, Soar Mill Cove, South Milton Sands and Slapton Sands.

There are plenty of scenic coastal and woodland walks for your dog-walking adventures too.

Around the hotel

We're not just a dog-friendly hotel, we're a dog-loving hotel which is why dogs on leads can join their owners anywhere, including the bar, terrace and in a spacious, designated sea view area in the restaurant.

While we ask for dogs to remain off the sofas and furniture, soft dog blankets are provided from reception on request. We do not provide dog beds, so please bring your furry friend's bed with you to ensure a comfy stay.

Food is a big part of any South Sands stay, however we cannot provide food for any of our four-pawed guests. We ask owners to bring their dog's favourite food with them. Treats can be purchased from reception.

Relaxed dog policies may apply to service dogs. Please speak to reception.
