The South Sands beach is on our doorstep and a brilliant destination for a beach holiday. You can laze, lounge, swim, splash and paddle or get active and enjoy some of the exciting water sports available. Then retreat back to the contemporary comfort of the hotel to eat and drink really well.
South Sands beach has been awarded the internationally recognised Blue Flag award. The accolade guarantees that the golden shores have top notch facilities, are litter free and have achieved a high standard of water quality. Blue Flag is a prestigious, international, eco label award acting as a guarantee to tourists that a beach or marina they’re visiting is one of the best in the world www.blueflag.org
South Sands is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the estuary is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a nature reserve. Nestled in a small east facing bay, sheltered from the south westerly breeze and sits between high cliffs, South Sands is a perfect situation. The beach is wide and sandy at low tide, but at high tide is almost completely covered by the rising tide. It’s dramatic and beautiful watching it change throughout the day and night.
Salcombe boasts some big names and some gorgeous independent boutiques. It all began here in sunny Salcombe for Quba, Jack Wills & Crew who still have their original flagship stores here.
