Update 22.02.2021 – our Self Catering Beach Suites
South Sands has 5 self-catering beach suites all equipped with 2 bedrooms, lounge, dining area, open plan kitchen + either a balcony or private terrace area.
Bookings can be made online, on the phone (01548 845900) or by email (reception@southsands.com). Our reservations team are available Monday – Friday 10:00-12:00 and 14:00-1600. The suites are accessed from a separate entrance to the main hotel but there will still be staff members available to answer any questions you may have during your stay.
Our five self catering beach suites offer more space and flexibility and are a popular choice for families. Our aim to to combine the best of beachside ‘self catering style’ accommodation.
The Beach Suites are furnished to an individual style and they do vary a little in size and aspect, details of which can be found on the individual pages.

TIDES REACH BUILDING SITE
South Sands would like to draw your attention, that for inland facing bedrooms within some beach suites, that there are currently building works across the road on the Tides Reach Hotel site. Although we have been largely unaffected so far, there have been times when works have started early. This work is completely separate from South Sands and is not in our control. We apologise for the inconvenience and hope it does not affect your stay.
Whatever season you come to South Sands you can be sure to see beautiful scenes from calm days to rough seas, simply stunning.
Sit back relax and looking over unspoilt sea views across the estuary in Salcombe. Many of our rooms have the ability to open up the windows and look over south Sands beach.
Our Enterprise and Optimist rooms are valley facing rooms that are still extremely comfortable offering the same finish and furnishing just overlooking the valley to the rear of the hotel.
Please note that all of our rooms and interior public areas are strictly non-smoking both inside and outside (for rooms with balconies).
Rooms 1 is a wheel chair friendly room, accessed on the lower floor of the hotel.
Room 2 is one of our Ground Floor Rooms accessed through a separate entrance with a ramp and then two steps up into the room. The room has been designed to be Ambulant Disabled accessible, as allergy free as possible and has air conditioning.
We love dogs at South Sands and we’re happy to accommodate them. South Sands beach welcomes dogs from October through to May (in summer access is restricted for dogs to early mornings and evenings – please follow notices posted at beach). Neighbouring North Sands beach is all year round, as well as that there are the dramatic coastal paths to go on.

We have at least 1 room available in each room category which welcomes dogs (except J Class).
Dog food is not provided.
Dogs are welcome in the bar, lounge and on the terrace on a lead.
South Sands Beach did win the internationally-recognised Blue Flag award. The accolade guaranteed that the golden shores have top notch facilities, are litter free and have achieved a high standard of water quality.

Rates are per room and based on double occupancy, and include a complimentary breakfast.
Our fantastic full English breakfast is included on your room rate ONLY when you book direct.
All of our rates are per room per night, apart from the Beach Suite’s where the rate covers 4 people.
All rates are VAT inclusive.

All of our rates are quoted per room, per night, inclusive of accommodation, full English breakfast and VAT and are based on two people sharing a bedroom. The tariff for single occupancy of our accommodation is £15 less than the listed rate when booked direct.
There is a minimum of a two night stay required in all room types during the weekends and throughout the year in all Beach Suites.
If you wish to change rooms after your arrival, there will be an additional charge for this.
Please note that our rates may vary during public and school holidays.
During our reopening phase, with hospitality businesses under government guidelines and waiting for clarification of when we can resume our normal bookings and operation, we would like to clarify our booking procedures to our guests.*
At the point of booking we will require your debit or credit card details.
A deposit equivalent to the 25% of your stay will be charged to this card, on completion of this transaction your confirmation will be sent out to you either by post or email.
This deposit is non-refundable. However, if you give us more than 1 week notice for our low and mid seasons (two weeks’ notice will be required for High Season bookings) we will provide you with a voucher for the equivalent amount paid with a 2 year expiry to use against a future booking. All cancellations must be confirmed in writing. If you are cancelling with less than 1 weeks’ notice (2 weeks in high season) the full cost will be liable unless we are able to re-let the room. We strongly advise having suitable travel insurance in place.
We respectfully remind guests that a reservation constitutes a contract between themselves and the Hotel. Any reservation or part thereof cancelled within the 1 or 2 weeks policy will be charged for.
Low & Mid season – One week prior to the first night of your stay
High season – Two weeks prior to the first night of your stay
Christmas and New Year – Four weeks prior to the first night of your stay
