South Sands is part of the South West Coast Path National Trail which is 630 miles long and one of the largest in the UK. The heritage, wildlife, geology and scenery along the way is truly inspirational and every day walking it brings stunning new experiences.
You are thoroughly spoiled for choice with the incredible walking routes in the area and even if you decide simply to walk in to town you will experience stunning views from the little coastal road in to the centre of Salcombe. There are plenty to choose from; relaxing, sedate walks to more challenging and adventurous.

Soar to Overbecks
Bolberry Down & Soar Mill Cove Walk
Bolberry Down has levelled circular trails through a breath taking coastal landscape with dramatic cliff top with far-reaching views.
Drink in the views of the Salcombe Estuary. The picturesque location of Snapes Point projects directly onto the Kingsbridge Estuary, and offers stunning views in both directions. There is also the chance to spot rare birdlife such as the nationally rare cirl bunting, the blackcap and chiffchaff.
Salcombe to Hope Cove
A coastline of dramatic cliffs, open farmland and sandy coves. Follow the coast path down to the golden sands at Soar Mill Cove and spend a day on the beach or discover fantastic views from the iconic jagged rocks at Bolt Head. Take a trip inland up the Salcombe estuary and gaze down on the beautiful waters alive with yatchs and sailing ships.
